Edmonton teacher fired after handing out zeros secures a new job

Less than a week after being fired for giving students zeros, an Edmonton teacher has a new job.  Lynden Dorval has been hired by Tempo School, a private school in the Riverbend area.  Dorval confirms to Global News he was contacted by the headmaster a few days ago, and met with school officials the following day.

Dorval was a teacher at Ross Sheppard High School and was reprimanded for insubordination, and not following the school's grading policy. He was suspended, and later fired after handing out zeros to students for work that wasn't handed in or tests that weren't taken.

The headmaster of Tempo School says he had been looking for an advanced physics teacher, which is what Dorval taught at Ross Sheppard. The private school also says marking is left up to the teachers, and its students would expect to receive zeros if they didn't complete their work.

Dorval will begin his new job the day after he is officially terminated by the Edmonton Public School Board in mid October. He says he's looking forward to closing one chapter of his life and opening a new one.
